The Baleful Shadow is a hostile assassin encountered during Ranni’s journey through Ainsel River, near the route to the Lake of Rot.

Story context

Ranni identifies the Baleful Shadows as agents sent against her after she rejected the Two Fingers. This one takes a wolf-like form associated with Blaidd, but the encounter does not establish that it is Blaidd himself; the resemblance turns Ranni’s shadowbound bond into a threat aimed back at her.
